The Southern Barrow-downs are an area within Bree-land in the southern region.

This area lies south of the Northern Barrow-downs and can be reached from the north over a central ridge that is separating the two areas. However, just north of Ost Gorthad is a crypt that leads through the mountain to Andrath. [34.9S, 53.1W]

Like the northern section, these fog draped hills also contain wights and barghests, however, further south the ground sinks into marshes where enraged bears and wretched huorns from the Old Forest seek out any unfortunate adventurers.

Also like its northern counterpart, there are several tombs which await to be explored, most notable and largest of all being that of Haudh Iarchith from which the minion of plague, Fergandir, commands the fell spirits that came down from Angmar. This tomb, and the others like it, remain an excellent means to acquiring reputation with the Men of Bree faction.
